Thomas’s art work

Boats

Thomas is 12 years old, and he has been a student in my art class for almost two years.

He has started working with color pencil for the past five months. He chose this subject for his latest work because he likes boats and the sea.

In creating this drawing he initially started with the dark and light colors and worked his way to complete the color pencil drawing in two lessons.

I recently drew my self portrait in approximately 2 hours. In creating the drawing I initially tried to get the construction of the head accurate.I started to build up the mass of the skull to get the correct form.At first I did not work on details, instead on concentrated on getting the proportions right, and accurately placing the ears.
After having sized the proportions correctly, I started the shading process starting with the middle values and then all different values. The last thing to work on were the features

Young artist studio

Young artist studio was established over eight years ago. At the time I decided to start an art program dedicated to realistic drawing and painting for the young students with artistic ambitions and talent. I started accepting students in the year 2000, and I am glad to say that the experience so far has been gratifying. I take a special pride in my studio and my students as I know my classes offer a unique program that is tailored towards students that have either some background in drawing, or have shown a passion and talent for the arts. The young artist Studio is a unique private art class that solely revolves around teaching the principles and traditions of realistic drawing and painting to children of ages 7 and up. Typically most parents who bring their children to my class have either a personal background in the arts or their close relatives have been involved in the arts. Most parents are usually attracted to my website as it is there where they can see the quality of work that my students have produced thru the years.

Sample student work at my private art class

Still Life Drawing with Color Pencil
Still Life Drawing with Color Pencil
Over eight years ago, when I first started my private classes in drawing and painting, I envisioned an environment where talented children of ages 7 and up could develope their drawing and painting skills by exploring shape, line, color, value, composition and space. To briefly illustrate some of the techniques utilized in the class I have shown one of my student’s recent works ( Carolyn, 11 years old ) . In creating this color pencil drawing, the artist initially drew with pencil in order to get the basic shape and form of the objects. She then used color pencil which is a transparent medium and started with local colors, as she understood the relationship between color and values (light and dark). She worked with the high intense colors for the warm areas and low intense colors for the cool areas. Additionally as she was aware of the reflection and influence of the colors of the background on the object and vice versa, she applied this principle to her work.
